The money was great, but my time was gone. As the weekend PT, my per visit rate was above average, but I only saw 3 to 5 patients a weekend. On Friday I may have seen 3 patients, but only 1 or 2 on Saturday/Sunday. I found that most patients didn’t like to get started before 9AM, so treating even just 2 patients a day took an entire morning. I would try to budget minutes for each visit, but with notes and follow up, a day of treating 3 patients might require 4 to 5 hours of my time.
Our company goal is to maximize patient health and allow them to recover in the comfort of their own home. This one-on-one, home based plan of care allows our Occupational Therapists to provide exceptional, patient-centered care right when and where it is needed. This just elongates your day further, and with computer issues, could delay your documentation. Of course, it’s important to realize that your responsibilities as a Home Health PT involves documentation and contacting physicians after your visit with the patient.
How do Home Health Occupational Therapists Rate Their Jobs?
Then goals can be planned, according to the needs and wants of the client and the client’s family. The goals may be modified over time, according to the patient’s progress. It is important to evaluate each patient differently and to provide continuous progress evaluations. At Interim HealthCare, we offer a different work environment that is not the typical clinic/hospital setting.
Home health Physical Therapy is likely to continue to grow as the population continue to age. Whether you’re looking for a traditional home health setup or contracting with a long term care facility, you’re sure to find a lot of opportunities in this field. Be sure to ask plenty of questions on productivity standards, patient census, and territory management before you sign up to become a home health PT.
Jobs That Pay Over 100k for Nurses
Sometimes that’s not the most up to date, however. I’m in the PNW, so lower pay overall. Are you a PT seeking one-on-one career coaching or help with documentation? The goal setting examples are enough to save you at least 5 minutes per patient. With 6 patients a day, that saves you 30 minutes each day. Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient to the Rehab Director, and other appropriate staff members.
If you are a truly committed home care nurse you will often not be compensated for the extra but necessary care and services you perform. Although agencies often pay mileage, the difference might not be enough to make up income lost by doing just one or two visits. The pay-per-visit rate must also cover the time a nurse spends completing paperwork, which is often completed later, at home, rather than at the patient's home. If a nurse wants to increase her income, she might squeeze in more patients than is prudent, which could be detrimental to patient care.
Average Visit Payments
Nationally, Interim HealthCare has been providing great jobs to great people for over 50 years and there are more than 300 offices across the country. That kind of stability combined with our commitment to integrity makes us your perfect career partner. Whoever is paying the bill makes a difference; Medicare rates for visits are higher than Medicaid payments, according to the Illinois HomeCare and Hospice Council. Home health nurses who work as independent contractors might charge less than agencies, who must take a cut of the pay. However, some home health nurses receive a set salary and schedule a certain number of visits per week. Both registered nurses and licensed practical nurses work in home health.
So 40 mins of drive time, mins visit time then doc time...this is why I’m asking. 2 hours of my time at 40/hr...booooo. This isn’t what the company gave me but what I’m hearing is the going rate. Hourly for full time at 2 places I used to work was $35. 9 years experience but not all home health, for reference. I did per visit for 3 years because I wanted full control of the number of patients I saw per week.
This means that you will be working between your visits as well as after you’re done treating patients that day. I get close to these rates but that i my starting pay with no prior HH experience. Fresh out of OT school with only my clinical experiences in acute & inpatient/mental health.
Please note that we are not able to give specific treatment advice or exercises to do at home. An occupational therapist helps people gain better functioning of their bodies so that daily activities can be performed better. The occupational therapist will perform an evaluation of a patient’s abilities.
I've been with this HH company since passing my boards in February of this year, first OT job. I'd say with 2 years of experience plus the area you're in, you could definitely get higher pay rates. Interim HealthCare is America's leading provider of home care, hospice and healthcare staffing.
